Performing on the renowned Opry stage, Toby Keith paid tribute to a legend who was taken much too soon. Keith, known for his hard-rocking party anthems and unforgettable patriotic songs, created an emotional medley that will bring a tear to your eye.
Keith has been around in the country music industry since he was a kid. As with many of his peers, much of his involvement in the industry was almost certainly thanks to Merle Haggard.
Ask almost any country musician, and they’ll tell you that Haggard inspired them. He has contributed so much talent, happiness and understanding to so many musicians’ careers. He was obviously a real icon and a much-loved member of the country music industry.
When Haggard died on April 6, 2016, lots of people paid tribute to him in their own special way. However, we have never witnessed such an emotional and tear-jerking medley as Toby made for this special Grand Ole Opry performance.
Performing hits like “Mama Tried”, “Today I Started Loving You Again”, “Silver Wings”, “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink”, and a great many others, Toby gave the performance his best and definitely stood out in this stunning tribute.
