It seems like the ‘King of Country,’ George Strait, has not lost his touch – or his urge to play for a crowd! He turned up totally unannounced at the South By Southwest Festival during a birthday celebration for Asleep At the Wheel’s Ray Benson.

Just when the band started to launch into some covers of Strait’s most beloved tracks, he came out of nowhere and surprised the crowd by joining Asleep At the Wheel for a set. Many of Strait’s most cherished songs were played – among them a few of our favorite songs too – including “All My Exes Live In Texas” and “Here For a Good Time.”

Performances by Strait have become rare since 2015, when he went on his “Cowboy Rides Away” retirement tour. However, he’s confirmed numerous performance dates in Las Vegas all through 2016.

If you’ve always wanted to see the “King of Country,” you’ve still got a few chances to experience his magic on stage.
