As ABC’s “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” started to wind down on Aug. 3 and viewers began to wonder whether it was time for bed, Hank Williams Jr. got up on the stage and showed everyone how it’s done.
Joining country mainstays Justin Moore and Chris Janson, Hank Williams Jr. gave an amazing performance of “Born to Boogie.” He got everybody in the CMA Fest audience to rock out to a country icon.
For the young ones in the audience, this performance was a great way to get a taste of one of country and southern rock’s most celebrated icons. Now, if they get a taste for it, fans can satisfy their yearning for more Hank once he hits the road with country superstar Chris Stapleton on a co-headlining summer show.
Based on an announcement, the special limited-run tour started on Aug. 5, 2016. The tour “will visit eight cities across the country with dates lined up in Houston, Austin, West Palm Beach, Detroit (Clarkston), Cleveland, Indianapolis and Cincinnati.”
“They originally wanted me to do like 20 shows [with Chris],” Hank mentioned in a recent interview, “and I picked eight to do with him. I only do about 25 shows a year, and I do not really do tours. I play when I want to, for who I want to, so it just kinda happened from there.”
